Omidon D Orally Dispersible Tablet contains Domperidone, which is classified as a Dopamine antagonist. It is primarily used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with various causes such as central or local origin, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, certain medications, and migraines.
Nausea and vomiting are not specific diseases but rather symptoms that can occur due to various conditions such as infections, food poisoning, motion sickness, overeating, intestinal blockage, migraines, and indigestion, among others.
Omidon D Tablet can also provide relief from postprandial symptoms like fullness, nausea, bloating in the upper abdomen, and burping, which may be accompanied by stomach discomfort and heartburn.
However, it is important to note that Omidon D Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with heart or moderate to severe liver diseases, bleeding in the stomach or intestines, intestinal blockage or tear, and tumors in the pituitary gland (prolactinoma). Caution should be exercised when using Omidon D Tablet in patients with kidney diseases.
Pregnant women should use Omidon D Tablet with caution, and breastfeeding women should only use it if deemed necessary by their doctor. It is advisable to seek the doctor's advice before taking the medication. Elderly patients (above 60 years of age) should also use Omidon D Tablet with caution.
Omidon D Tablet should not be administered to children below 12 years of age or weighing less than 35kg. It is important to consult the child's doctor in such cases. The most common side effect of Omidon D Tablet is a dry mouth. If this side effect worsens or does not improve, it is recommended to consult with a doctor.
Do not consume alcohol, as it increases the side effects of Omidon D tablets.
Omidon D Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnant women as sufficient data is not available regarding its safety. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine only if the benefits outweigh the risk. Do not take or stop this medicine without consulting with your doctor.
Do not take Omidon D Tablet if you are breastfeeding. A small amount of this medicine passes into breast milk. It may cause unwanted side effects in a breastfed baby. It should be used during breastfeeding if your doctor considers it necessary
You need to be cautious while driving, as this medicine can cause sleepiness, confusion, or less control over your movements.
Omidon D Tablet should be taken with caution in patients with kidney problems. Your doctor will adjust your dose depending on the condition of your disease.
Omidon D Tablet should be taken with precaution in patients with liver disease. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and potential risks before prescribing them. Please consult your doctor.
Treatment of-
Omidon D Tablet works by blocking certain chemical messengers (dopamine) in the vomiting center of your brain and acts on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines. This causes faster gastric emptying and helps in the prevention of nausea and vomiting.
Omidon D Tablet is an effective anti-emetic medicine used to relieve nausea and vomiting caused by delayed gastric emptying (the time it takes for food to empty from the stomach and enter the small intestine)
Domperidone could be a dopamine receptor adversary. It gives gastroprokinetic action by blocking dopamine receptors found within the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and stomach. Due to its frail infiltration over the blood-brain barrier, it has nearly no impact on the dopaminergic receptors within the brain, subsequently barring psychotropic and neurologic side impacts.
The recommended oral dose of Domperidone varies depending on the age group and the condition being treated:
Omidon D tablet should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals and, if necessary, before bedtime. Omidon D Tablet should be swallowed with a glass of water. It should not be crushed or chewed.
Omidon D Tablet 10's may interact with several medications used to treat various conditions, including heart problems, high blood pressure, depression, cancer, bacterial infections, gastrointestinal disorders, malaria, neurological conditions, fungal infections, gastrointestinal drugs, and anti-HIV drugs. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
Omidon D Tablet 10's may also interact with certain food substances such as grapefruit juice, alcohol, and tobacco. It is advisable to avoid consuming these substances while taking Omidon D Tablet 10's to prevent any potential interactions that may affect its effectiveness.
Additionally, caution should be exercised when using Omidon D Tablet 10's in patients with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, brain tumors, history of gastrointestinal bleeding, or any bowel-related problems. Close monitoring and appropriate adjustments in dosage or treatment may be necessary in such cases. It is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
Omidon D mg is contraindicated in patients who have a known hypersensitivity to this medication and in the case of neonates. Domperidone should not be used when gastrointestinal stimulation could be unsafe, such as in cases of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a prolactin-releasing pituitary tumor (prolactinoma).
The safety of domperidone during pregnancy has not been established, and therefore it is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Animal studies have not shown any teratogenic effects on the fetus. Omidon D may stimulate the production of breast milk (galactorrhea) and enhance postnatal lactation. It is excreted in breast milk but in very small amounts that are not considered harmful.
Do not take Omidon D Tablet 10's if you have an allergy to any of its components. Prior to taking the medication, consult your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems (impaired kidney function or failure). Prolonged use of Omidon D Tablet 10's may be associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia) and cardiac arrest (heart attack). This risk may be higher in the elderly (those over 60 years old) or when taking doses higher than 30 mg daily. Inform your doctor if you are using antifungal medications and/or if you have heart problems or AIDS/HIV. If you experience heart rhythm disorders such as palpitations, difficulty breathing, or loss of consciousness after taking Omidon D Tablet 10's, immediately contact your doctor. Domperidone is generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, in some cases, it may be used to increase milk supply during breastfeeding if deemed necessary by your physician. Seek your doctor's advice before taking this medicine. Adolescents (children between 12-18 years of age) weighing less than 35 kg should not be given Omidon D Tablet 10's.
